Cowbell Booster Club

In the aftermath of the Frost Heaves’ inaugural season, a group of unusually devoted fans based in Central Vermont decided to create an organization to support the ABA Champions in all they do. The Cowbell Booster Club was born, pledging to provide whatever the team needs, whether staffing booths at fairs and festivals; preparing floats for parades; offering player hospitality; lining up sponsors for pre-game meals; leading ticket drives; supplying help in mailing and distributing posters, brochures and schedules; promoting the team’s camps and clinics; assisting with in-venue tasks before and after games; etc. Come tip-off, members are like any other Frost Heaves fans—except that, when they take their seats at the Aud and Memorial, they tend to make more noise, thanks to their vocal enthusiasm and those signature cowbells.

Cowbell Club members have developed their own mission statement, which reads in part: “We assist with the promotion of the Frost Heaves while expanding their presence in the community. We are a working volunteer organization committed to developing fundraisers; participating in community activities; and any other projects that enhance the team’s success. We are representing the Frost Heaves’ organization and as such conduct ourselves with the same level of professionalism and integrity.”

The Club meets weekly and has expanded to include members from all over the state. There are no requirements for membership other than to be a Frost Heaves season-ticket holder; pay modest annual dues ($10 per person or $15 per household); and pledge to participate in at least two volunteer projects a year.
